Our Little Story


Everyone loves chocolate. However, it’s not always easy to find delicious chocolate that’s also good for your health and environmentally friendly, while embodying positive change.

Theobroma [ thee-uh-broh-ma ] in Greek means“Food of the Gods

“Food of the Gods”

(Theo=God and Broma=Food), and this is exactly what chocolate 
has represented for centuries.

Founded in 2008 by Josée Vigneault and Jean-René Lemire, a married couple and co-founders, Theobroma Chocolat is a chocolate factory based in Quebec City, Canada. The company’s philosophy is clear and ambitious: GETTING SMARTER TOGETHER.

Every product we develop is created according to our five fundamental principles, which we like to call the “chocolate commandments”:

  • Tasty: every bite should be a delight.
  • Healthy: good for you and for future generations.
  • Eco-responsible: good for the planet.
  • Natural: no artificial flavors.
  • Pure: no genetically modified organisms (GMOs).

For over 15 years, we’ve taken this mission to heart, working with our team to develop products that help make the world a deliciously better place.
