About Cassava Root

We use cassava root fiber in our delicious Theobroma Snacks and Chocolate because it is a simple way to add gut-health-supporting prebiotic fiber to our confections. In fact, cassava is one of three prebiotic fibers that we use to support your digestive health and make sure your good bacteria are happy and healthy!

SMARTLY SWEETENED WITHOUT SUGAR ALCOHOLS AND RICH IN PLANT FIBER

Cassava is a starchy, fibrous root vegetable found in South America and parts of Africa. The root is dried, peeled and then ground into a powdery flour. The result is a Grain Free, Gluten Free, Vegan, Dairy Free and Sugar-Free powder flour.

 

Cassava is believed to have been first cultivated by the Maya in Yucatán and has been used in cooking for over 4,000 years.  As a drought-tolerant crop, cassava can be grown on marginal soils and gives reasonable yields where many other crops do not grow well.  As a result, cassava root is now grown worldwide.

We use cassava root fiber to sweeten Theobroma Chocolate because it offers a perfect zero sugar sweetness AND a zero-dairy creaminess to our organic dark chocolate.  As a bonus, it is a simple way to add B and C vitamins along with gut-health-supporting prebiotic fiber to our confections.

Pre-Biotic fiber “resists” digestion and passes directly through the small intestine to the large intestine.  Here, the beneficial bacteria that live in your gut begin the fermentation process which feeds the good bacteria.

Cassava flour has a neutral, slightly sweet, and nutty taste.  We developed a proprietary method for our Theobroma YUMMY Zero Sugar Chocolate that brings a sweet, smooth finish to our beautiful organic chocolate.

 

Although Theobroma Yummy  Zero Sugar Chocolate does not contain sugar, you don’t need to be on a special diet to enjoy it. That said, it is gluten-free, grain-free, and nut-free, making it a great choice for perfect for those following a Paleo, Vegan, Keto, Whole30, and gluten-free diets.

About Milk Protein Isolate (MPI)

If you want a protein that’ll keep you full…

Protein is the most filling macronutrient. The added protein source in our Zero Sugar energy bite is essential to avoid feeling hangry. MPI is high in casein, a milk protein that’s digested and absorbed slowly by the body.  This means it’s filling and can keep you feeling satisfied over time.

The Zero Sugar Energy Bite protein is a milk protein isolate made by the removal of non-protein sources (lactose and minerals) from skim milk (condensed milk). The final dry product consists of 90% protein by weight.

Milk Protein Isolate is a protein product derived from skim milk made by a filtering process that removes the minerals and the lactose; leaving the casein and whey.  Casein, a milk protein, is digested and absorbed slowly by the body allowing for more sustained energy.

MPI is also a high-quality source of amino acids.

Whey protein isolate contains only whey which is lower in protien than MPI and is digested quickly by the body.

Animal proteins and dairy proteins are considered “complete” due to their amino acid profile. Plant proteins are not complete proteins.

Our Yummy Zero Sugar energy bite milk-based energy bites contain leucine which is considered the primary amino acid responsible for muscle protein synthesis (muscle growth).

MPI contains trace amounts of lactose.
